Pinewood Derby

WHEN: Car Check-In: March 15th @ 6:30 PM; Race: March 16th @ 9:00 AM.

WHERE: John H. Castle Gym

Partnered with a parent or guardian, Cub Scouts work together, strengthening bonds and building confidence – and their own custom race cars! They begin with an official Pinewood Derby Race Car kit, then create a design, then carve it from the wood block provided in the kit, and detail it with paint, decals and other accessories, and perfect strategies to compete in their pack’s own Pinewood Derby. It’s s a wonderful learning experience centered on teamwork, ingenuity and sportsmanship – all for the thrill of the race and a lifetime of great memories to share with fellow racers young and old.

Check-In

To be able to race in this year's Pinewood Derby, you will need to have your car turned in on Friday night between 6:30 and 8pm. Bring the completed Pinewood car to the John H Castle Gymnasium to be inspected, weighed, and it will be able to run down the track once. Before officially turning in, you will have the opportunity for final modifications if necessary. Once you have checked in your car, you are free to go and we will see you Saturday morning for the Race!

Race Day

Opening ceremonies will begin promptly at 9am, followed by scouts selection of the Scout's Choice Pinewood car. Then racing will begin! This will be a fun day for everyone and we are excited to see how well everyone's car performs and even more excited about the designs!

Concession stand will be open! Don't forget to bring some cash to enjoy some terrific goodies!!
